About Nanjing Agricultural University
Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), founded in 1902, is a state key university and a “211”project university under the Chinese Ministry of Education. With agriculture and life sciences as its characteristics, NAU has a harmonious development of diverse branches of learning such as science, economics, engineering, liberal arts, management and law science. NAU now consists of five faculties: Plant Sciences, Animal Science, Biology and Environment, Food and Engineering, Social Sciences. NAU has 21 colleges and offers 61 Bachelor’s programs, 157 Master’s programs, and 77 Doctoral programs. In 2013 there were 32,000 students, including more than 17000 undergraduates and 8000 postgraduates. There were 598 international students from 60 countries studying at NAU.

Location
1.NAU is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province. With a total area of 6597 km2, Nanjing has a population of 8 million and a GDP totaling RMB 830 billion in 2013.
2.As one of the most important cities for scientific research & education in China, Nanjing is home to 41 higher educational institutions with over 600,000 students. Nanjing is also home to over 540 scientific research organizations employing more than 530,000 researchers and staff.
3.Nanjing was a capital city of ten dynasties throughout Chinese history. With extensive urban green space and tree cover, Nanjing offers a friendly and relaxed living environment.
4.The main campus of NAU is situated in the picturesque eastern part of Nanjing near the UNESCO World Heritage Ming Imperial Tombs and Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.

1.For the 2013-2014 academic year, enrollment at NAU reached 32,000, including 17,000 undergraduates, 8,000 graduate students, and 7,000 enrolled in continuing education programs.
2.International students enrolled in degree and short-term exchange programs at NAU annually number close to 600.
3.Faculty and staff at NAU currently total 2,800, including 340 professors and 470 associate professors. The NAU faculty includes two members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, four experts listed in the Recruitment Program of Global Experts and five in the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, two recipients of the National Outstanding Educator Award, and thirteen recipients of China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists.

Graduate Education
1.Graduate education at NAU can be traced back to the 1930s. The research and practice of graduates trained at NAU from 1936 to 1966 formed the foundation of agricultural science and technology in modern China.
2.The Graduate School at NAU offers 77 PhD programs and 157 Master’s programs, conferring both academic and professional degrees.
3.NAU annually welcomes noted scholars from universities and research institutions worldwide as guest lecturers or visiting professors.
4.The Graduate School is working closely with local and international enterprises to offer internship opportunities to graduate students.
